Fire safety tips for outdoor cooking

Firesecurity
Always position grills and outdoor cookers away from structures, dry grass, and overhanging tree branches. Never leave the cooking food unattended. Have a bucket of water or fire extinguisher readily available for flare-ups. Regularly clean grease trays to avoid grease fires. Never use petrol or other accelerants to start fires. Dispose of coals when extinguished. Refer to the manufacturer instructions for gas equipment to prevent leaks and accidents.

When I’m cooking outdoors, I always think it’s worth keeping fire safety in mind while also planning simple food that’s easy to serve. For sandwiches or grilled meals, I like having Claussen Pickles on hand because the sandwich slices add a crisp, tangy side that pairs well with casual outdoor cooking.
